Overview
MCP swages in-house. Swaging is a special type of forging process in which metal is formed by a succession of rapid hammer blows. Used to reduce the outer diameter of round, flat, square rod, pipe or tubing, swaging provides a reduced round cross section suitable for subsequent machining and/or forming operations such as tapping, threading, upsetting, welding, etc. Swaged components benefit from increased tensile strength and improved appearance as a result of this hot forging process. Swaging also minimizes stress points commonly caused by milling ends for threading. If only one end is swaged, the other end can be formed or machined to your specifications. Use swaging to eliminate secondary machining and welding operations.

Fabricating Capabilities
Material Types: steel and stainless steel Materials: bar, wire, rod, pipe, tubing, flat bar, square tubing Size Ranges: up to 3.0" diameter Volume Niche: 25 to 5,000 piece run quantities, EAU's of 25 to 50,000 Competitive Niche: The type of swaging we do is for solid bars, flat bars, or tubes with wall thicknesses of 0.06" or larger. Our process is not suitable for thin walled tubes. • has at least (5) five of these operations: bending, collaring/upset forging, flattening, painting, swaging, threading or welding OR • has BOTH swaging and welding OR • has UPSET FORGING AND (1) of these operations: flattening, swaging, threading, welding OR • has a LINKAGE END (ball joint, clevis yoke end, spherical rod end) assembled on one or both ends
Long section swaged to a smaller diameter, and then bent. Subsequent operations are machining and plating.
1.000" diameter Tube swaged down for threading 1/2-20
Flat Bars Punched, Drilled, and soon to be Swaged for Threading.

Swaged Tubes
Left End is swaged and threaded to accept a female spherical rod end bearing
Swaged, Threaded and Powder Coated Tube. Tube is 1.25" Diameter. Threads are M12
2 of these parts are swaged and then drilled and tapped internally for threads
Left item is tubing, swaged for male threads. Center item is solid bar swaged for male threads. Right item is tubing, swaged for female threads
Linkage Tube with swaging, knurling, drilling and tapping.
1/4 thick flat bar swaged for 5/16 threads - that's right, we used swaging to INCREASE the material in the threaded area
